Kane’s Heroics Lift England to Dramatic Extra-Time Win Over Slovakia in Euro 2024

England staged a stunning comeback to defeat Slovakia 2-1 in extra time in the Round of 16 of Euro 2024. Slovakia took a surprising lead in the first half, but England rallied with two goals from Jude Bellingham in the dying minutes of regular time and Harry Kane, including the winner in extra time.

Despite dominating possession for most of the game, England struggled to break down Slovakia’s well-organized defense. Slovakia stunned England with a goal against the run of play, capitalizing on a defensive lapse.

However, England’s persistence paid off in the second half as Jude Bellingham’s brilliant playmaking set up Kane for the equalizer. With the score level at 1-1 after 90 minutes, the match went into extra time.

In extra time, Kane emerged as the hero once again, heading in a cross to secure England’s place in the quarterfinals. It was his 65th goal for England, further solidifying his status as the country’s all-time leading scorer.

England’s victory was a testament to their resilience and determination. Despite falling behind early, they never gave up and ultimately found a way to win. With this win, England remains a strong contender to win Euro 2024.

Gareth Southgate will be more than happy to see his side barely survive and be continuing their chances to see glory, but one thing for certain, England need to be better against Switzerland or they will be on their way back home sooner than expected.
